Stage Manager
The Application Portal is CLOSED for the 2024 Season
The Stage Managers are two of the most essential members of the CLOC team. They are responsible for guiding each production from first rehearsal through closing night.
Impeccable communication and organizational skills are essential as well as the ability to generate clean and orderly prompt books. Stage managers must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Responding to pressure with creative problem solving is the hallmark of a successful candidate.
The Stage Managers alternate between Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager and report to the Associate Artistic Director and the Production Manager. Successful candidates are generally older undergraduates, recent graduates or graduate students in stage management.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being staged. The primary Stage Manager can rarely be in every rehearsal of any given production. There are six performances of each show, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Wednesday and Thursday. There is only one technical rehearsal and one dress rehearsal for each production.
In addition to the regular season of nine shows, CLOC proudly participates in events that elevate our local community of Falmouth, MA. Examples of such events include a Juneteenth Celebration, an Independence Day Concert, a performance at the local Arts Alive Festival, as well as volunteer-based opportunities. The Stage Managers help with managing and staffing these events.
All Company members are assigned chores that help keep the campus and theatre running.
Company members are responsible for their own transportation to and from Falmouth, MA. The company will provide transportation from the Falmouth Bus Station to our West Falmouth Campus.
The Stage Managers must arrive on campus by 5:00 p.m. on Monday June 3rd and depart by noon on Sunday August 18th.
The entire company is required to participate in the final strike on the evening of Saturday August 17th.
Exceptions to these dates will be considered for students who must leave early to attend school.
