SCENIC DESIGNER
The Scenic Designer is one of the most crucial positions at CLOC. The Scenic Designer is responsible, in coordination with the Production Manager/ Technical Director, for designing and drafting all scenic elements as well as helping supervise construction, painting, and dressing of all sets and props and managing strike and change over of sets.
Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills are essential as well as knowledge of architectural and design history, scenic construction, scenic painting and set dressing.
The Scenic Designer is the direct supervisor of the four Scenic Technicians and reports to the Production Manager. Successful candidates are generally recent graduates or graduate students in scenic design.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being built. At any given time, there are usually three shows being worked on. There are six performances of each show, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Wednesday and Thursday.
In addition to the regular season of nine shows, CLOC proudly participates in events that elevate our local community of Falmouth, MA. Examples of such events include a Juneteenth Celebration, an Independence Day Concert, a performance at the local Arts Alive Festival, as well as volunteer-based opportunities. The Scenic Designer is expected to assist with these events when deemed appropriate by the Production Manager/ Technical Director.
All Company members are assigned chores that help keep the campus and theatre running.
Company members are responsible for their own transportation to and from Falmouth, MA. The company will provide transportation from the Falmouth Bus Depot to our West Falmouth Campus.
The Scenic Designer must arrive on campus by 5:00 p.m. on Monday June 2rd and depart by noon on Sunday August 17th.
The entire company is required to participate in the final strike on the evening of Saturday August 16th.
Exceptions to these dates will be considered for students who must leave early to attend school.

LIGHTING DESIGNER/ Master Electrician
The Lighting Designer is responsible for designing, hanging and focusing a rep plot for the summer as well as rehanging and refocusing for each individual production.
Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as well as knowledge of a variety of lighting styles and instruments.
The Lighting Designer reports to the Production Manager and, on occasion, supervises Scenic Technicians during hang, focus and change over. The Lighting Designer often doubles as Lighting Board Operator during performances. Successful candidates are generally recent graduates or graduate students in lighting design.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being staged. The Lighting Designer rarely sees more than one run-through before hang and focus. There are six performances of each show, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Wednesday and Thursday.

The four Scenic Technicians work cooperatively to cover all carpentry, paint, and props requirements as well as run crew requirements for each production and hang and focus of lights. Assignments may also include light board operator and or sound design and editing as well as assisting with when needed.
Each Scenic Technician should be prepared to alternate duties throughout the season. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as well as knowledge of carpentry, scenic construction and tool safety. Experience with scenic painting, sewing soft-goods and focusing lights is desirable but not required.
The Scenic Technicians are supervised by the Technical Director. At any given time they may directly report to the Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer or Stage Manager. Successful candidates are generally undergraduates studying scenic design or technical theatre but majoring in theatre technology is not required.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being built.
