​High School Internship Program

The College Light Opera Company is thrilled to expand its opportunities for high school students this coming summer and is now accepting applications for its internship program. This is a unique opportunity for any student interested in learning more about a career in the arts. Choose from five unique tracks and follow a full production from the first steps through closing night.

Candidates

The ideal candidate should be interested in pursuing a degree in theatre management, design and production, or theatre arts in general. Applicants should be able to take direction and not be distracted. Applicants should reside within a reasonable driving distance of Falmouth. 

Application Requirements: 
  • Complete online application which includes:
    • Letter of Intent (briefly describe why you are interested in this opportunity)
    • Resume (including academic performance, extra curricular activities, community  involvement and any other relevant experience)
    • recommendation (an adult who can speak to the candidates qualifications. For example: theatre instructor, coach, teacher or other educator)

Choose from 5 Tracks

Arts Administration, Publicity and Box Office
  • Work with the business staff at the Highfield Theatre Box office assisting with box office sales, marketing, public relations, and house management. 
  • Learn about arts administration, sales and marketing, and the journey from press release to performance. 

Music Administration and Orchestra Management 
  • Work with music staff at West Falmouth Campus and Highfield Theatre assisting with rehearsal preparation and administration as well as orchestra set up and management. 
  • Learn about the rehearsal process and the journey from rehearsal to performance from the perspective of the music department.

Stage Management and Production Assistance 
  • Work with the Production team at the West Falmouth Campus and Highfield Theatre assisting with the set-up and running of the rehearsal process as well as the running of performances. 
  • Learn about the rehearsal process and the journey from rehearsal to performance from the perspective of stage management and production assistance. 

Scenic Technician, Lighting and Run Crew
  • Work with the Set Crew at the Highfield Theater assisting with set construction, lights, painting, and props as well as the run crew during performances. 
  • Learn about the design and production process and the journey from concept to execution. 

Costume Technician and Wardrobe Crew
  • Work with the Costume Crew at the West Falmouth Campus and the Highfield Theatre assisting with costume construction and alteration as well as wardrobe crew during performances. 
  • Learn about the design and production process and the journey from concept to execution.​
