Choreographer
The Application Portal is now OPEN for the 2025 Season
The Choreographer is one of the most essential members of the CLOC team. In addition to being responsible for the dance and movement in each production, they often act as assistant director.
Being able to work effectively with actors of varying skill levels is key to this position while being able to think on your feet and respond to challenges with creativity are qualities that lead to success.
The Choreographer should have a broad knowledge of dance styles and history. The Choreographer reports to the Associate Artistic Director. Successful candidates are generally recent graduates or graduate students in dance or choreography.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being staged. The Choreographer can rarely be in every rehearsal of any given production. There are six performances of each show, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Wednesday and Thursday. There is only one technical rehearsal and one dress rehearsal for each production.
In addition to the regular season of nine shows, CLOC proudly participates in events that elevate our local community of Falmouth, MA. Examples of such events include a Juneteenth Celebration, an Independence Day Concert, a performance at the local Arts Alive Festival, as well as volunteer-based opportunities. The Choreographer helps with staging and coordinating these events.
All Company members are assigned chores that help keep the campus and theatre running.
Company members are responsible for their own transportation to and from Falmouth, MA. The company will provide transportation from the Falmouth Bus Station to our West Falmouth Campus.
The Choreographer must arrive on campus by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2rd and depart by noon on Sunday August 17th.
The entire company is required to participate in the final strike on the evening of Saturday August 16.
Exceptions to these dates will be considered for students who must leave early to attend school.
