Costume dCOSTUME DESIGNER/ SHOP SUPERVISOR
The Costume Designer/ Shop Supervisor is one of the most crucial positions at CLOC. The Costume Designer is responsible for supervising all construction, pulling, and alteration of costumes as well as managing wardrobe, laundry, and hair and makeup.
Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills are essential as well as knowledge of costume history, construction, fitting, alteration, and hand and machine sewing. Experience with draping and flat patterning is required.
The Costume Designer is the direct supervisor of the five Costume Technicians and reports to the Production Manager. Successful candidates are generally recent graduates or graduate students in costume design.
The schedule is both demanding and highly rewarding. While one show is running in the evening, the following week's show is being built. At any given time, there are usually three shows being worked on. There are six performances of each show, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Wednesday and Thursday.
In addition to the regular season of nine shows, CLOC proudly participates in events that elevate our local community of Falmouth, MA. Examples of such events include a Juneteenth Celebration, an Independence Day Concert, a performance at the local Arts Alive Festival, as well as volunteer-based opportunities.
All Company members are assigned chores that help keep the campus and theatre running.
Company members are responsible for their own transportation to and from Falmouth, MA. The company will provide transportation from the Falmouth Bus Depot to our West Falmouth Campus.
The Costume Designer must arrive on campus by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2 and depart by noon on Sunday, August 17.
The entire company is required to participate in the final strike on the evening of Saturday August 16th.
Exceptions to these dates will be considered for students who must leave early to attend school.

Each Costume Technician should be prepared to alternate duties throughout the season. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as well as knowledge of costume construction, fitting, alteration, and hand and machine sewing. Experience with draping and flat patterning is desirable but not required.
The Costume Technicians are supervised by the Costume Designer and the Production Manager. Successful candidates are generally undergraduates studying costume design or construction though majoring in theatre design and technology is not required.
