Plant & Property Director
The Plant & Property Director is responsible for coordinating the co-op work program at CLOC. The program involves approximately 50 of the 80 people working for CLOC. Jobs are assigned in the areas of general house cleaning, kitchen clean up and meal preparation. The P&P Director supervises all of these jobs, sees to it that they are done on time and properly, and prepares the weekly work schedules.
Additionally, he or she is responsible for the maintenance and appearance of the West Falmouth campus, which includes five buildings on six acres of land. In this capacity it is expected that the successful candidate will have abilities in (or at least familiarity with) home repair, plumbing, and some minor electrical and mechanical matters. The P&P Director deals with our outside maintenance contractors and performs some grounds maintenance.
The Director has one full 24 hour period off each week (but not on Tuesdays) and, on another day takes the Cook's place and prepares meals as well as doing other normal duties. (Likewise, the Cook replaces the Work Director on his or her day off.)
The work director must arrive to campus on May 31, 2023 and depart after Sunday August 20, 2023.
Successful candidates for this position have ranged from juniors and seniors in college with experience in co-op type living situations to older men and women who have been faculty members at schools or colleges. The job requires leadership abilities, common sense, and the simple enjoyment of fixing things and nurturing the appearance of property. The position includes a salary, room and board .
