Scenic Department
Applications are due: March 1st, 2021
Applications are due: March 1st, 2021
For 2021, CLOC will be operating with a significantly reduced Scenic Crew. We are hiring a Scenic Coordinator/Props Master to create simple but effective staging. Applicants with previous experience in other areas of production and/or Stage Management are highly desirable. In addition, there is a Lighting Designer and a Production Manager/Technical Director who oversees the crew**. The tech crew builds the sets, props, and lights for the 9 show, 12 week season.
**Due to reduced crew and staging limitations in response to COVID-19, CLOC cannot offer a Scenic Design experience for the 2021 season. We do encourage you to be proactive and contact us with your interest for 2022. To start an early application, please email a letter of intent to Kristin Knutson, kristin.knutson@collegelightoperacompany.com.
The tech crew is responsible for building the sets and lights for each show, and for assembling necessary props. One tech member is responsible for running each performance under the direction of the Stage Manager. The tech staff also is responsible for set changes during the run of each show. NOTE: Determination, patience, and a positive attitude are a must in this fast-paced environment!
Crew members must arrive on campus by 6:00 p.m. on June 2, 2021 and depart on by noon on Sunday August 22, 2021. The entire company is required to participate in final strike on the evening of Saturday August 21, 2021. Exceptions to these dates will be considered on a case by case basis but must be discussed honestly during the interview process.
The positions pay room and board and a stipend for the summer. For additional information please email apply@collegelightoperacompany.com.
SCHEDULE
Normal shop hours for the tech staff are 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2:00-5:30 p.m., and 7:30-10:00 pm. (or end of performance). Wednesday mornings and afternoons are free as well as Sunday morning.
The tech staff runs the strike and changeover each Saturday night, supervising company members assigned to assist with strike. Sundays are devoted to re-hanging lights as necessary and putting finishing touches on the next week’s set. Sunday night is the tech rehearsal, Monday night is the dress rehearsal, and Tuesday night is opening night. Build time is short, so CLOC is an excellent opportunity for those who want to bring their tech skills up to speed (and quickly!)
***Typical daily schedule is subject to change depending on campus and venue logistics surrounding COVID-19.
All Company members are assigned chores that help keep the campus and theatre running.
